The Vintage Gamers Of Elftown

<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/2893_1131309708.jpg>

<img:http://elftown.eu/stuff/etrpg.gif><img:http://elftown.eu/stuff/etscififana.gif>This wiki supports the Take Elftown Back movement. But if you play games that aren't sci-fi or fantasy, don't feel alienated. We still support you.
This page is for those rare members of the gaming community who understand and enjoy older systems and games. Not only can we find friends for gamers who feel left out when their friends only obsess over the newest systems and understand nothing about older games, but we can spread appreciation for old games as well.
Feel free to use the comments box to chat about vintage gaming or place suggestions on how to make this Wiki thrive.

2006-07-11 [Kiddalee]: Me too. The worst part of it, IMO, is "OMG, the characters had forgotten that they were childhood friends all along!" And I'll correct myself and call it interesting plot devices. I also count clichées as OMG, though they may not always be so clumsily added.

2006-07-16 [Rhammin]: oh, so many words

2006-07-17 [Kiddalee]: I know, i'n't it great?

2006-07-17 [Rhammin]: sure...

2006-07-17 [Kiddalee]: :P

2006-07-19 [Rhammin]: you're mocking me, aren't you?

2006-07-19 [Faulty Limerence]: Would you rather I do it? ^_^

2006-07-19 [Rhammin]: you can if you please, it doesn't really effect me.

2006-07-19 [Faulty Limerence]: Oh I didn't mean for that to sound as it may have. I didn't mean it as if I would be seriously mocking you. It's not as if I'm that conceited.

2006-07-19 [Kiddalee]: We can settle this in a game of Super Smash Bros. I'm still on dial-up, so I can't play online with you guys (if there is even an N64 emulator with netplay in existance). I'll just see who wins between the 2 of you.

2006-07-20 [Faulty Limerence]: Hahah all you have to do is throw in the old one. So devastating.

2006-07-20 [Rhammin]: there is a emulator but you have to order it from japan and even so it's not compatable with american systems.

2006-07-20 [Faulty Limerence]: Nah, you can find N64 Emulators online. They take a bit of work to get functional but they're out there.

2006-07-21 [Kiddalee]: ***beats Secret of Mana* YaY! I feel so accomplished!

2006-07-21 [Faulty Limerence]: I've been playing Xenosaga 1 again. I had to restart it two times this week because of the damned F-Scythe hahah.

2006-07-21 [NamelessMerc]: <.<; >.>; **Beated entire Harry Potter PSOne series on Monday**

2006-07-21 [Faulty Limerence]: Ugh...as if those games deserve any mention...

2006-07-24 [NamelessMerc]: Hush ya mouth! BUt my point was realy that I got through, like, 3 games in one day -.-; Playability has gone so far downhill.

2006-07-24 [Faulty Limerence]: THose aren't really very new games. People aren't amazed by the same things anymore. You can't just have a game with a ball that eats other balls and nothing else happens. Not anymore. You have to have a plot, which means that the plot has to have a conclusion.

2006-07-24 [NamelessMerc]: ... I like Pac-Man. Games like that amuse the hell out of me, if only for the fact that I'm amazingly bad at them. I need time to make decisions, not the split-decision gameplay of older arcade games.

2006-07-25 [iippo]: Best plots I've ever played are in the Monkey Island -series (one through three, haven't had 4 yet). But those are all plot. Some games that have plots and then something else combined, like Pokemon (plot and gotta catch them all) I get sidetracked with the other stuff, almost every time and don't care for the plot. I don't give a damn whether Team Rocket is using innocent pokemon to do evil as long as all mine evolve and are strong and I catch all kinds. >_> Not a plot fan here :P

2006-07-25 [Rhammin]: they've got american emulators? kick ass!!

2006-07-25 [Faulty Limerence]: I can agree with you there [iippo]. The Monkey Island series is one of the best, plot-driven series out there.

2006-07-25 [Rhammin]: moneky island???

2006-07-25 [Kiddalee]: And it's funny. :)

2006-07-25 [Faulty Limerence]: Mmhm.

2006-07-26 [Rhammin]: whats it about?

2006-07-26 [Kiddalee]: Pirates! ^_^

2006-07-26 [Rhammin]: yay pirates

2006-07-26 [iippo]: It's an old LucasArts' adventure game series. Generally I'm a great fan of all LucasArts (and Sierra too) adventures. They're what started my playing.

2006-07-26 [Faulty Limerence]: Mmm. Sierra was great back in the day.  I even had a lot of fun with Earthseige 2. I just wish that game would work on anything past Windows 95.

2006-07-26 [iippo]: I knooow. X_x So frustrating, I have loads of cds full of those great old games, and I can only play them on my sister's old PC that has Windows 95 on it. But it's good that you can still play some DOS games on the DOS emulator, DOS-box :)

2006-07-26 [Rhammin]: you can get programs that will allow you to play older games.

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: Can't Win95 games work on DOS emulators?

2006-07-28 [Viking]: DosBox is essential for folks like us...http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: Aah, yes. I couldn't figure DosBox out. Luckily, I was having enough fun with ZSNES not to feel it when I couldn't run Commander Keen.

2006-07-28 [Viking]: Ah, Commander Keen...I've not played that one in ages. I still remember trying to get through Sand Yego...

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: DOS emulators... now why didn't I ever think of looking for one of those?

2006-07-28 [Viking]: BTW, DosBox just emulates the old version of dos. It's all command line. Pretty simple for those of us that grew up with that kind of thing.

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: ***hugs [Charybdis]* I was just a bit too young for that command line. My elementary school had computers late in the Windows 3.1 days, but while most ran DOS, they used menus, which are a good deal easier for child users.

2006-07-28 [Viking]: You didn't think of it, [Charybdis], because you've been eating too much fish!

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: *hugs back* ^^ When I was little, I used to write stories on my dad's huge old hulk of a computer where the letters on the screen were an orange the colour of streetlights. That was all it did x) Makes me feel old, and I'm not even nineteen xP My school computers... I don't remember what they did, really, but it must have been Windows 95. I remember thinking that @#$* Clouds wallpaper it came with was the greatest thing ever xD // I haven't had fish in days, so clearly it's the lack that has prevented me from doing so :p

2006-07-28 [Skydancer]: OOOOOh yes, orange phosphors. You could get those old monochrome screens in black and white, green, or orange. I had green on my first computer and a lot of the ones at the school had orange.

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: Really? I didn't know they came in different colours x) More like a fancy typewriter than anything else, but it was terribly impressive if you were about four at the time :P

2006-07-28 [Skydancer]: Yep yep... and the phosphors were long persistance, that was one reason if you left them on for a long time with a screen up they would burn into the phosphors.

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: My dad still uses orange phosphor screens at his work XD

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: Whoa, I had no idea o_O // Oh, what does he do? ^^

2006-07-28 [Viking]: I remember the green very well. I only saw a few of the orange screens. I seem to remember them as the fancy monitors, because even though it was all orange, there were various shades of orange. I don't remember that with the green.

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: He runs an auto-wreckers. The computer is for a database of all the parts he has catalogued so far. He's also on a special internet called the Hollander Network. I believe more up-to-date systems are available from them by now, but they still provide support for that old thing.

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: Hmm, I just remember it all as a rather ugly orange, but immensely exciting at the same time because you could type and the words would appear on the screen, plus you could make smily faces and hearts! What more could anybody ask for? :P

2006-07-28 [Skydancer]: There are lots of Wyse terminals still out there and they are often orange. I installed many many of them for places like florists and gift shops and other small business uses.

2006-07-28 [Skydancer]: They still offer them in green, amber and black and white even

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: Wow, those are a lot nicer than the one I remember :p

2006-07-28 [Skydancer]: Well, surely they have improved them a little.. chuckle.. the ones I put in did not look that good for sure

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: I suppose that figures x)

2006-07-28 [Faulty Limerence]: Wow...someone had a long conversation. What was the gist?

2006-07-28 [Charybdis]: There are only about three or four comments that have been pushed off this page, so you can catch up quickly enough ^^ Mainly it was DOS and Wyse computers ^^

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: Oops. *deleted comment*

2006-07-28 [Faulty Limerence]: Oh I see. I got into computers too late for DOS. I tried desperately to learn it.

2006-07-28 [iippo]: I loved DOS. Except when it got confused and thought I had an American keyboard, when I have a Finnish one. X_x / and \ are impossible to find on the American keyboard, and you can't do squat in DOS without them :P In Dosbox, when it loads it tells a command you can use to bring up a command-dictionary (how to run the games or change folders etc...) It works slightly differently than normal DOS.

2006-07-28 [Kiddalee]: American keyboard: \ is below backspace, which would be at the top right; / is just to the left of right shift, which would be below enter and above right ctrl.

2006-07-28 [Faulty Limerence]: Mmhm, she beat me to saying that.

2006-07-29 [iippo]: It's not exactly useful anymore since this new computer doesn't have DOS anymore... :P But it was a bitch when it happened back then.

2006-07-31 [Azaroth]: hmm hi there! i just found this wiki today lol well you did forgot one of the best platforms ever, the Commodore Amiga ^^ and i say this not only because i had one lol also, how do i join? :)

2006-07-31 [Rhammin]: you crazy bastards write so damn much. and yet i still like you...???

2006-07-31 [Azaroth]: lol ok nevermind that part on how to join :P and by the way, i just added the Amiga on the list! is that ok?

2006-07-31 [Rhammin]: sure it's okay.

2006-07-31 [Azaroth]: thanks :)

2006-07-31 [Rhammin]: no prb.

2006-08-01 [NamelessMerc]: 0.0; HOW did I miss the Commodore?! I still remember playing SF2 on there, Blanca beating the crap out of a car... Good times.

2006-08-01 [Azaroth]: yeah i do love the amiga in lots of ways hehe that's why i downloaded an amiga emulator :P i remember at the time i used to love games on it like Another World, Epic, Escape from Colditz or Deuteros! and you had to love some of the classics like Turrican, Lotus or XJ220 Jaguar ^^ awesome times hehehe

2006-08-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Heehee I got new members to come about.

2006-08-05 [Kiddalee]: Whee!

2006-08-05 [NamelessMerc]: 0.0; Street Fighter 2, Populous, Navy SEALs, The Addam's Family and Lemmings. Pwned.

2006-08-06 [Azaroth]: oh oh oh and what about Power Monger, Walker, Defenders of the Crown, Beach Volley, Wolf Child and Shaolin Warriors? ^^

2006-08-06 [Charybdis]: Omg Lemmings! xD

2006-08-06 [Viking]: Hey, [Azaroth], we've actually got a link to an online version of Defender of the Crown (if it's the same game you're thinking of)...It requires the Shockwave plugin.

http://www.cinemaware.com/browser/dotc/final.asp

2006-08-06 [shotokan_gal]: *loves lemmings too* :D At least, until it gets so frustrating you want to murder your comp :P (or alternatively, just kill off all the little blighters)

2006-08-06 [Skydancer]: The nuclear Option.. yes yes yes...

2006-08-06 [NamelessMerc]: I'm sure I remember Walker, was that the one with a robot that looked like the big mutha out of Robocop? And loads of little men trying to shoot it?

If it is then I loved that game to bits, but not as much as Lemmings :D

2006-08-06 [Azaroth]: yeah [Viking] i know of that version, it's in their software house Panogames right? i playied it and it's nice ;)

and [NamelessMerc] yes that's the game i'm talking about! very difficult by the way. i think i never passed the 3rd level. i would get frustrated and quit it everytime lol

2006-08-06 [NamelessMerc]: Me either, but then I was never one for point-and-click lol.

2006-08-07 [iippo]: "Panogames"? Is that a real name..? It's... so rude in Finnish X_x (Pano is slang-ish to the act of having sex) *a little shocked here*

2006-08-07 [Kiddalee]: Has anybody played Heart of Darkness? It's about a kid rescuing his dog from shadow people in another world. The gameplay is really intense and there are some good puzzles. For Win95. Man, I loved that game.

2006-08-08 [Azaroth]: [iippo] well in portuguese is slang for a gay XD weird languages lol

2006-08-08 [Azaroth]: well i never playied the game although i know it, simly because i don't like that genre of games much ;)

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: It's a combination of action, adventure, and puzzle, with plot. And the graphics were very good for their time, as far as I know.

2006-08-29 [Kiddalee]: News for the week: With the help of an abundance of tape, I have fixed my N64 adapter.

2006-08-29 [Viking]: Congrats! What game did you play first, after the repair?

2006-08-30 [Azaroth]: lol alot of tape hu? :P me i still play some amiga games from time to time with the help of an emulator. otherwise it would be impossible to do it lol i don't even have my amiga anymore XD

2006-09-01 [Kiddalee]: I played Mario 64. I wanted to play Zelda 64, but I thought that might be too engaging, since I'm moving on September 2, and I'm not planning on taking the system with me.

2006-09-01 [Charybdis]: Really? I'm moving tomorrow too! :D But I don't have a TV yet, so I can't bring either the N64 or the GCN right now xD I wouldn't mind bringing Majora's Mask, though, if I could... probably my favourite Zelda so far. <3

2006-09-01 [Kiddalee]: My favourite is A Link to the Past. It's just so packed with stuff.

2006-09-01 [Faulty Limerence]: Wind Waker has always been my favorite. And yes, I have played all of the other ones. I love the style.

2006-09-01 [Doc_D]: Woot! Once again my young friends I have secured a piece of gaming history. I am now the proud owner of Ace Combat 2, the disc is practically brand new too, it's only got one single play mark on it.

2006-09-01 [shotokan_gal]: Oooh Zelda talk. *hops in* I'm all cliche in being all in love with Ocarina of Time, but Link to the Past also holds a special place in my heart as the first I properly played to completion ^^ (though have dim memories of watching my older brother play Zelda 2 on the NES... damn but that game looked hard o_O ).

2006-09-02 [Charybdis]: A Link to the Past... that's one Zelda game I would love to get my hands on. ><; I've heard really good things about it, but enver had the opportunity to play. It was your first Zelda? You started before me then x) Mine was Link's Awakening DX. I lost the cartridge for it years ago though ;_____;
Majora's Mask is my top favourite because it has such an incredible sense of atmosphere, and seems so.. well, alive, in a way that OoT isn't, brilliant as it is. They're both lovely games though. Best on the N64 in my opinion. ^____^

2006-09-02 [shotokan_gal]: Definitely worth a try if you ever can ^^ though I know how hard it can be to get hold of old SNES games... took us quite a while to get a (decent priced) copy of Super Metroid, after the console was long out of date.

2006-09-02 [Charybdis]: I think you can get a GBA version now, can't you? I'm sorely tempted by the DS Lite, which is backwards-compatible... if I end up getting one, which is admittedly very iffy since I should be spending on other things x), I'll see if I can track down a copy of it ^___^

2006-09-02 [shotokan_gal]: Oh, yeah probably. I'm always completely out of touch with the hand held consoles as never played any of them much so far, although my younger brother would know details I'm sure.

2006-09-02 [Charybdis]: I might be wrong; I thought I'd read somewhere that one of the older Zelda had been ported to the GBA, but it may not have been that one ^^; I don't know a great deal about them either, only that the DS/GBA have some titles I think I would very much like to play, like Fire Emblem or maybe Final Fantasy (heard so much about them, never played one). Not to mention that the last handheld game I purchased was Oracle of Ages for the GBC xD

2006-09-02 [Charybdis]: Mm, speaking of Zelda, I have to share this link x) http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=208
VG Cats <3

2006-09-02 [Kiddalee]: Ditto, Charybdis, only it was Oracle of Seasons for me.

2006-09-02 [Kiddalee]: ***eyes the comment* AHAHAHAHA! I just completed that dungeon this morning! XP

2006-09-02 [shotokan_gal]: Hehe, that's got a point... all that fire hanging around inside a tree can't be good X)

2006-09-02 [Azaroth]: hehe

2006-09-05 [Faulty Limerence]: I return from my weekend downtown.  Ahhhhh I missed this place. Hello, friends.

2006-09-05 [Doc_D]: Bah! Say anything about a game like Ace Combat and it gets glazed over with out a thought. Mention Wizardry or Elder Scrolls and no one says a word. Zelda comes up and the fans come out of the wood works. Screw that damn elf.

2006-09-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Hey hey! I LOVE Ace Combat. Can't say the same for Elder Scrolls. I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time.

2006-09-05 [Azaroth]: hmm never really played Ace combat i believe... as for wizardry and elder scrolls well 1 first title, i only played it's 8th chapter (that said Wizardry 8 hehe) and although it had some nice graphics well i must say it kinda gets repetitive and boring a bit fast. and i hated the way you had conversations to get info! it was like pulling theet :P not to mention i kind of hate most turn based rpg's.
as for the elder scrolls, i played Arena at the time and most recently Morrowind. well for the first i didn't played much as it constantly crashed lol but i liked the game anyway! as for the most recent morrowind, well with some new texture packs it was very nice but still it becomes a bit boring all that sense of nothingness... like you get to a point where you don't know what to really do anymore... the game is too damn huge and you also walk really really slow loll well this is it at the time lol

2006-09-06 [NamelessMerc]: Elder Scrolls? *Pokes head out of shell*

2006-09-07 [Rhammin]: YAY!!! ELDER SCROLLS!!!!!! MORROWIND BABY YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006-09-08 [Azaroth]: hehe

2006-09-08 [Kiddalee]: *is again online*

2006-09-08 [Faulty Limerence]: ...Why were our comments deleted?

2006-09-08 [Faulty Limerence]: Oh wait...wrong wiki...sorry.

2006-09-08 [Rhammin]: noob (mumbles under breath)

2006-09-08 [Faulty Limerence]: Excuse me?

2006-09-08 [Doc_D]: That's pretty ignorant of you Zanzabar.

2006-09-08 [Faulty Limerence]: I'll have you know that I was literally playing games before you were born.

2006-09-08 [shotokan_gal]: It may be just me, but I didn't think the comment was to be taken all that seriously :P

2006-09-08 [Kiddalee]: Yeah, I've seen worse.

2006-09-08 [Doc_D]: I still find it ignorant for someone to call another a noob. For one thing, if you HAVE to sink that low spell it right, N E W B, no one needs that leet shite. And second, it's just ignorant to assume your self above someone else. Cripes people already think less of gamers, we should at least try to work together and hold our selves above what society has made of us.

2006-09-09 [Kiddalee]: Eh? I see nothing wrong with spelling it n00b, since even newb is colloquial enough to be annoying - for people who want to get annoyed, anyways. It's just a joke, and a part of that joke is the spelling.
I also haven't seen a lot of the world believing gamers are any lower than they are. In fact, gaming is growing, and in the West it is no longer assumed to be just for kids. Are you looking in all the wrong places for that discrimination, or what?

2006-09-09 [Faulty Limerence]: There are noobs and there are newbs. There is a distinct diference between the two terms.

2006-09-09 [Azaroth]: indeed! let me give you an example of noob and newb in this comic lol look here and try to understand the difference ^^
http://ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20060823

2006-09-09 [Azaroth]: also, even if the gaming world is growing it is still looked upon with bad eyes. i mean just because a reality is growing day by day doesn't mean that people accept it well. on the contrary, the faster it grows the less some people understand it... and people tend to dislike what they don't understand! hehe i guess it's one of those things that people will always see a a kid's thing :P

2006-09-10 [iippo]: It's also a lot about first impressions. When talking about games, non-gamers won't think of some uber fun classic game that even they'd like to play. They've either seen racing and shoot'em -games and disliked the speed/violence, or fan-games like Harry Potter and gone "boo, that's just milking the phenomenon, that sucks!" It does depend on what the first game is. For example, my first adventure game was Leisure Suit Larry 7. It looks good (all cartooney), it's easy to use point 'n click thing, it's really funny and soft-pornish (nothing childish about it)... It's a really funky game, which lead on to other awesome adventure games like the Monkey Islands, and other Sierra's games... If I had played King's Quest first, I would have given up since I keep dying in that game and I don't like dying. :/

2006-09-10 [NamelessMerc]: The first real adventure game I can think of playing was Hunter Hunted for the PC. It was a bt of a platformer but I loved it anyway :D

2006-09-11 [Doc_D]: Jesus, I can't even remember the name of the first adventure game I played. All I remember was collecting up a butt load of items, flying on a winged horse to an island of the dead, getting eaten by a big face door on said island of dead and that usually walking down a spiral stair case with out bars is usually a death sentence until you've played it a few thousand times. I remember it was on the PC.

2006-09-11 [Kiddalee]: Eh? I'm not seeing your comic, [Azaroth].
My first games were on Atari, when I was a kid. We had a Strawberry Shortcake game where you would mix and match the legs with the bodies with the heads, and it would play the character(s)' theme song(s) depending on how you mixed it. Then we got an SNES and Gameboys without getting the NES in between. Of course, my first SNES game was Mario World (though I had played some Mario Land 3 and Bananas on friends' NESs).

2006-09-11 [Azaroth]: hehe i think my first adventure/rpg game was Lure of the Temptress. any of you old geezers remember that one for Amiga? :P

2006-09-11 [Faulty Limerence]: Heh...ET for the Atari. Good thing that didn't scare me away from gaming for good, eh?

2006-09-11 [Rhammin]: i can't helo being ignorant. it's part of who i am.

2006-10-05 [iippo]: They're planning a new gaming-focused Heddate community, have a look in Gamesmad, and show support. :)

2006-10-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Been there since the beginning iippo. ^_^

2006-10-05 [iippo]: :O Why didn't you tell the rest of us too? ;_; I thought-ah we was like-ah fammmily!

2006-10-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Hahah, I did. Further back in the comments I directed some people from Gamesmad here to tell everyone.

2006-10-05 [iippo]: Dammit, I'm so unobservant >.<

2006-10-05 [Faulty Limerence]: It's okay, we love ya anyway [iippo].

2006-10-06 [Charybdis]: o_o I didn't know about that either! *watches*

2006-10-09 [nhd]: Hey, I need someone experienced to compare and contrast, FFXI with everyother MMO out there that has a respectable standing. thanks.

2006-10-22 [Remial]: Hey, do you think someone could put up links to ye olde-tyme emulators and roms up here? It'd be swell to play Hybris or FFIII on my comp.

2006-10-23 [Faulty Limerence]: Google.com

Learn to use it.

2006-10-23 [nhd]: lol, thats not why I asked. and I know how to use google.

2006-10-23 [Remial]: Not why I asked either ;) I'm looking for tried-and-true emulator and roms. And not viruses.

2006-10-23 [Skydancer]: Frankly one of the best ways to get such things, though I use a very strong antivirus, antispyware suite to check them all, is the newsgroups. There is one for just about every emulator and all the roms that are out there.

2006-10-23 [Doc_D]: I've been racking my brains for a decent game to review next and I think I finally found it! Diablo II.

2006-10-23 [iippo]: If you use emulators, how bout instead of sending our members to newsgroups or Google, just share the information you have in here? I only use a Gameboy emulator (HGB, has normal Gameboy and Colour, no Advance, but it's good for what I need it for), though my sister's broader in that sense, so she might remember which ones she uses (I recall one SNES and possibly a Sega MasterSystem). :) But I've never actually downloaded ROMs or emulators off the net, I got it from a friend.

2006-10-23 [Remial]: Same here. I got Zsnes (super nintendo emulator) and a bundle of roms from a friend, and I want more.

2006-10-23 [Skydancer]: Well, probably because in my case I do not use them, I just get them for folk that I know that only have old computers and either no connection to the net or only dial up. Just outside town, the mountains make access something of a crapshoot for many people. :)

2006-10-24 [Remial]: hahaha. Oh, dial-up. . .how I loathe thee.

2006-11-25 [Kiddalee]: Umm... guys? It shouldn't be that hard to find emulators and ROMs. Just Google for them.  Zophar's Domain has emulators, but its ROMs are all public domain (ie: games that weren't actually released for the system, but probably just for the emulator). Again, Googling for games should not be very hard at all.

2006-11-25 [iippo]: But that's where the "don't want to download viruses" -thing kicks in. There's a lot of junk that comes along with the ROM if it happens to be the wrong place to download. I assume that's why they were asking us. Plus the recommendations, which emulators are good. I'm still hoping to find a Gameboy emulator that also emulates the cable link thing so I could actually be able to catch all of 'em darn pokemon (some don't evolve without trading :( )

2006-11-25 [Faulty Limerence]: Back before my recent reformat, I had some links to the best emulators and ROM sites on the net. Buuuut the reformat showed those who was boss, as well as everything else that was on my computer. And for the record, as long as your smart and look at the file extensions, it's pretty easy to avoid viruses.

2006-11-26 [iippo]: Well I'm not smart. :(

2006-11-26 [Remial]: me niether. D:

2006-11-27 [Faulty Limerence]: That's not exactly something you should admit so easily.

2006-11-27 [iippo]: Why not?

2006-12-03 [Viking]: Yous guys should check out this old video about ActiVision:
http://www.youtube.com/v/8yqVqwcICKQ

It also includes lots of old commercials for the games. Great stuff!

2006-12-03 [Viking]: And, yes, that is Phil Hartman in the Ice Hockey commercial =)

2006-12-28 [Kiddalee]: [iippo]: I think it is.

2007-01-04 [Azaroth]: Happy New Year guys!!! :D

2007-01-04 [Faulty Limerence]: Confirmed: New Kingdom Hearts project in development this year.

2007-01-05 [Remial]: That doesn't sound very vintage :P

2007-01-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Pah, away with you. That's so vintage. You don't even know. =p

2007-01-05 [Remial]: hahah. Its so vintage, it's old before it even hits the shelves! ;)

2007-01-05 [Faulty Limerence]: Damn straight.

2007-01-05 [Kiddalee]: #2 looks so fun. I don't bother getting new things, at all, though. I've only see my friends playing for a few minutes on their systems.
I really love action battles in RPGs. You're already reading and travelling so much, why should you need to do more reading and - eeyecch - math, when you should be fighting for your life?

2007-01-07 [NamelessMerc]: #2 is good. I got it for Christmas, and I'm officially obsessed. The Valor Form is officially my best friend.

2007-01-08 [Doc_D]: Screw Kingdom Hearts, it's nothing but a god damned retarded flipper baby between Square and Diseny.
And before any of you wee ones even start up with "I bet you never gave it a chance" I did, and that's why I hate it.
It sucks and any of you who proclaim it to be the greatest RPG ever is a freak'in idiot.

2007-01-08 [Doc_D]: Sorry if this made any of you cry, it's been a long ass weekend shift and you lot just handed me the fuse to a small bomb.

2007-01-08 [Faulty Limerence]: FIRST of all! Before you come here badmouthing games, give a legitimate reason. Second of all, it's an Action RPG. Completely different genre. And third of all, this game sucks, yet every gaming magazine that it's been reviewed by has given it far above average ratings? Take your unsupported bullshit somewhere else. No one was saying that it was the best game ever. We were saying it was a good game. Go cry your negativity in some other corner.

2007-01-08 [Doc_D]: Hah, least someone stands up.
If you have to narrow it down to a speciffic genre then fine, it IS NOT that great of an ACTION RPG either.
As for the gaming mags, I don't give a care, Square could shite on a blue ray disc and they'd give it rave reviews, hells they'd give it a 20 page spread.
Also, if you didn't notice I had also apologised for lashing out publicly.
Besides, every one knows the game is a piece of garbage compared to Diablo II.

2007-01-08 [iippo]: ...Except your apology was also a sort of insult. :P You're funny. XD

2007-01-08 [Faulty Limerence]: I've lost all respect for your opinions that I might have had. They give Square bad reviews when they release bad games. Unlimited Saga. And Diablo II? Are you kidding? That's a completely different game with completely different goals. There's not much to come from comparing the two. If this sort of thing is all you're good for, then I doubt that you're welcome here.

2007-01-08 [Azaroth]: supported ^^

2007-01-08 [Remial]: I agree with Baka-san. Diablo II (also not that great of a game, btw) is completely differant then KH. Stop trying to compare the two.

2007-01-09 [Azaroth]: well this is my humble opinion but also, people tend to compare, even if in an "inocent" way, games with very different hmm vintage! i think it's really something to take into account, as for example, if you compare a game from let's say 1990 and one of 1995 for example, you need to remember that most of the time there is very different tech involved to make both games! there are times where that is present and the games are like a year appart! i know it's a bit off topic but still, it's something to have in mind!

also, i myself loved diablo I and II but what happends with this kind of games is that at some point they become a bit repetitive! and i believe that's the real chalenge for the games nowadays! :)

2007-01-09 [Doc_D]: *tosses Azaroth a lil gold star* Congrats you just passed a Doc test.
In all honesty I don't hate KH, I just don't care about it.
I wanted to see who among you would take the high and calm road should I toss a grenade on your picnick.
*pokes Baka* You can get off yer high horse now by the way.
I'm well aware that the game was made to attract more of the younger and female audiances and was never really meant for hack and slash gamers.

I honestly do apologise for tossing a rock on the bees nest but it really did seem like a good opertunity.

2007-01-09 [Faulty Limerence]: Hey, listen. If you're going to apologize you should at least do it a bit more sincerely. You know, without all the hidden agenda crap. I'm not on any high horse. You don't need to be on a very high horse to shoot down such idiocy. And in the future, it'd be appreciated if you didn't try to start things just to see who "would take the high and calm road should I toss a grenade on your picnick". That's not what anyone wants here. And by the way, it's "picnic".

2007-01-09 [Doc_D]: Fmeh, I'm no good at spelling at 3AM.

2007-01-10 [iippo]: I have to agree with Baka, it's not cool to start flaming just to heckle people, just like throwing a rock at a beehive is not a smart thing to do. Just because we're online doesn't mean that etiquette doesn't apply, and it's just bad manners to start egging people on with comments like that. :/ I come here for civil conversation and to have fun, not to be annoyed, no matter what the hidden agenda behind the annoying is. :/

2007-01-10 [Remial]: Well, if [Doc_D] wanted a reaction, he certainly got one. Congratulations, you've just been stung by almost every bee in this here beehive. Now go throw rocks elsewhere. Please.

2007-01-20 [NamelessMerc]: If I'd been here for that conversation, I'd have laughed a hell of a lot more. But reading it through was enough. That brightened up a bad day.

2007-01-21 [Remial]: *sigh* welcome to Vintage gamers. :3

2007-01-21 [Faulty Limerence]: ^_____^
WELCOME!

2007-01-28 [NamelessMerc]: Aye, that too =3

2007-01-28 [Faulty Limerence]: Well, if you want a community of gamers, you have to expect some flamers, and the rabid defense against those flamers. That's just something that kind of comes along with the gamer mindset. You're either flaming, or rabidly defending. At least that's what I've found from my experience with gamers.  Examining myself as well.

2007-01-29 [Remial]: Sad, but true. We gamers are almost always under attack from someone. :/

2007-01-29 [Faulty Limerence]: Yes. Us games. Always under attack by the ratings bureau.

But gamers face another enemy entirely! =P

2007-01-29 [Remial]: hahahah. . .oh damn. (fixed typo)

2009-06-25 [Mind Fucker]: id love to do things with you...like play together.....in the same rooom....playing my game...the xbox....but in this case its your box

2009-06-26 [Faulty Limerence]: So anyway, dead wiki is dead. Been playing a lot of XBox recently. Prototype, Rock Band, and Left 4 Dead mostly. Anyone know any details about the upcoming Left 4 Dead sequal?

2009-06-28 [Mind Fucker]: i put lotion and vastleine on the coffee cup holder of my xbox360 and make love to it....no i dont know anything about it, i but i hope they make a sequal to left for dead that game was fucking great

2009-07-04 [Faulty Limerence]: Oh no, they're definitely making a sequal. They've got trailers out. I just don't know a lot of gameplay details.

2011-06-29 [Kiddalee]: Activity on this page?

2011-06-29 [Viking]: The latest mainstreet poll reminded me of this, so I linked it.

2011-06-29 [Avaz]: The activity would be my fault, yes. :)
